Meet Ms. Fuller 😊 (Instructor bio)

Hello! 

I am honored to have the opportunity to join you in the classroom here at Tidewater Community College! I aim to help you reach your goals by creating a challenging but supportive learning environment where you feel you are welcome to ask questions, share your perspective, and grow personally and professionally during our time together. In our class, I hope to inspire thought-provoking discussion and connect our course material to career-relevant and life-relevant examples to provide you with the best preparation possible for your future endeavors.

Professionally, I have a psychology background and a passion for education. My previous laboratory experience is in Behavioral Psychology, where I worked in public safety research and Human Factors Psychology, surrounding the topic of Human Trust in AI. I earned my Master of Science in Psychology, with an interest in Community Health and Education Accessibility. I have earned professional certificates in Teaching Adult Learners and Teaching Online, and I am currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Education with a focus on Student Experiences, which will be completed in the near future. My research in that program is focused on Student Engagement and Feelings of Belonging across different modes of course delivery. I previously served in the U.S. Navy, where I had the opportunity to work in departmental training, where I first discovered I had a love for teaching and helping people to understand complex new concepts, as well as working in my role as an FC (Fire Controlman - NSSMS Tech), operating and maintaining combat and weapons systems and their associated radars. 

Outside of the Tidewater Community College classroom, I enjoy assisting with a local non-profit, designing curriculum, and teaching courses to court-involved young adults and young adults who have aged out of the foster care system and are working towards college or trade school readiness. I am originally from Boston, Massachusetts, but spent a few years in Phoenix, Arizona, before joining the US Navy. As I completed my Navy service, I moved to Norfolk, Virginia, where I have now been for over 10 years. I enjoy spending time with my daughter, my partner, and our crazy dogs, Franklin (R) and Louis (L).
